Developed in partnership with Remco Evenepoel, the S-Works Torch Remco isn’t just the lightest shoe in the peloton at 148.2g—it’s the new benchmark for performance in the high mountains. Every gram, every detail was dialed through Remco’s feedback, refined with our Body Geometry methodology to deliver more power, more efficiency, and 44% less forefoot pressure. Validated during his debut Tour, it’s a shoe shaped by Remco, forged in the heat of Grand Tour battle.

Made in Racing

In October 2023, Remco asked for a lightweight shoe for him to race in the 2024 Tour de France on stages with long, sustained climbs. For the following eight months, Remco was at the center of development—testing, providing feedback, and helping the team fine-tune a shoe that could match his explosive style. Because when our riders ask for something, we solve it in partnership with them. That’s made in racing.

Remco tested the third and final prototype in his debut Tour de France in five key mountain stages—4, 14, 15, 19, and 20. He attacked again and again on brutal climbs like the Col du Galibier and Pla d’Adet, trusting the Specialized Shoe Team with every explosive move.

  • 148.2g - Lightest Race Shoe in the World: The S-Works Torch Remco achieves its featherweight status through a refined construction—featuring a simplified upper, a smaller carbon plate, a nylon-injected heel counter and toe cap, and a single Boa Li2 Dial. This all results in a shoe that provides everything you need and nothing you don’t in a lightweight, efficient, and comfortable package.

After six years of research, the Specialized Human Performance Team nailed the perfect balance—stiff enough for max power transfer, light enough for all-day efficiency. Tested with 2,000-watt sprinters and pros like National Crit Champ Charon Smith, the S-Works Torch Remco’s carbon outsole delivers elite-level output without compromise. Built for Tour de France demands. Engineered for pure speed.

  • 51.1g Saved From the Upper: The biggest opportunity to save weight in a cycling shoe comes from a simplified, yet efficient upper construction. Eliminating excess material and utilizing a single layer of mesh and TPU to construct the majority of the upper was the first step in making this a lightweight shoe. Goodbye 39.81 grams. While creating a simplified upper, the Specialized Shoe Team explored several closure systems with the goal of remaining lightweight while holding the foot in place for immediate power transfer. Utilizing a single BOA® Li2 Dial and a wider closure strap at the midfoot shaved off another 11.29 grams.

  • Lightweight, Yet Supportive: Lowering the overall profile of the heel counter and utilizing injected nylon helps keep the shoe lightweight while offering the medial and lateral support Remco needs to hold his foot in place for out of the saddle, full gas efforts.
